That was rather... British, wasn't it?

weather: amused
song: ...None. this is bad.

Sharing this, just 'cause it is TOTALLY a Giles-Scoobie conversation (dunno if it'd be Xander or Buffy, or POSSIBLY Oz if he were being really sarcastic--OZISLOVE), or possibly Chris-Tamara, because... well, I can see it happening.

British professor: I was walking around Oxford one day and I heard these two young lads, couldn't have been more than eight, say "bitches and hoes."
Student: Could you please say that phrase again?
British professor: ... No.

I loves my British.  Hmm. Junior year is definitely happening. Absolutely. I won't let it not happen. Maybe I'll just do five year Masters so I can have four years at my lovely MIT and still spend my junior year traipsing about the wilds of Cambridge, UK.

...Hi. This is your random, "Yes, I live" update. After my minor nervous breakdown of yesterday, I thought I'd put it up.

Now I just need to write a paper in about two hours, email it, be like "...Ooops, sorry, it's right here, forgot!" and go make a flashlight. Cool, huh?

EDIT: While we're at it, because I always forget to mention this: I keep seeing postings for "The Hush Sound," some band or other, on various communities and stuff. My reaction, EVERY TIME: ..."WTF? The Hush Sound? That would be... silence. No one could talk in Hush! ....Dammit, Buffy!"

I don't know whether to laugh or squee uncontrollably.

Isn't he ADORABLE?! It's Shakespearean!Giles! ... *Can't stop squeeing* I'm just not certain if I want to actually think about SotE!Cinaed wearing that outfit.  *Giggles insanely*

I'm sorry. That was a totally necessary picture.

OHMIGODHEISSOCUTE. AND GEEKY. ...And all... commanding... eeh. *In a happyplace now*

song: A Little Priest, thanks to BattleHamster

First news: 5/12 and batting 1000 so far. I laugh in your face, Rutledge.

Ignore that, and the subject. Really. I'm in a decidedly... odd mood.  But I thought I'd share this:

"Sometimes you just have a bad day.

The people who tell stories are just like anyone else. The difference, though, is that if something in their life goes all wahooni-shaped, they have someone to take it out on -- the fictional characters that inhabit their created worlds. Thus, you occasionally end up with a story taking a sharp left turn into the author's psyche. Characters can die left and right, the teenaged hero's schoolteacher will be a sadistic tormentor, and no one's love life has any chance of turning out well.

Note that this doesn't necessarily make it bad; some shows have achieved their highest ratings in the middle of a bout of Creator Breakdown. However, look out for the Writer On Board.

Of course, it's hard to tell when Creator Breakdown is happening, and when it's a case of Genre Shift for some artistic reason; you shouldn't put an example here unless you have it from the mouth of the creator themselves. That said... "

Besides Severus Snape (*Snorts*) and that fool Anne Rice... my favorite is this one:

"By her own admission, much of the widely-disliked Season 6 of Buffy The Vampire Slayer is a rehashing of writer Marti Noxon's own personal issues. "

AHAHAHAHAHAHA. Not at her personal issues, of course. Just... So THAT's why it sucked. Marti, I'm sure you have problems--but that's what counselors are for. Instead you scarred us for life. I'm ashamed of you.

Anyways.  I'm in a decidedly odd mood. I'm now addicted to TV Tropes. Oh well.

EDIT: On the "Too Dumb to Live" page:

The character who drives the plot by doing things that no sane human being would do. Walking down the alley alone to tell her friend about the serial killer. Telling her best friend not to tell anybody, but she has a crush on somebody. Walking through the streets of Sunnydale after dark. Being Lana Lang. Not only possessing Genre Blindness, but putting Zaphod Beeblebrox's Peril-Sensitive Sunglasses on over it.

AHAHAHAHAHA.  SUNNYDALE. SO TRUE THOUGH.

The other Morris dance...

song: I...Robot, You Jane

First of all? Should anyone get ahold of downloads of Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers seasons one and two--and possibly three, but that's a lot less important--please get it to me.  Immediately.  'Cause... eeeh, young Tommy Oliver.  ...Er. Basically, I had a young childhood crush on the White Ranger, and I distinctly remember when Kimberly Hart fainted just prior to his identity being revealed, and it was, like, the height of my childhood romance spree to think about Tommy/Kimberly.  And I wanted to be the White Ranger when I was ickle.  And I LOVED those episodes and could never find them. Please? Someone help me?

...Also, if Jenny were less callous and less... snarky, and Giles more competent, their early relationship would be vaguely reminiscent of Chris and Kim's.  And... okay, this is my periodic GILES IS LOVE squee.  Just... oh my god, I love him. So much. Aaaack. This has nothing to do with Cinaed. Really. Nothing at all. ....ILOVEHIM.

On to the point of all this.

I've been obsessed with death lately. I... I don't know why. I just am.  This is what Gaiman and Pratchett have done to me.  I can't stop thinking about it. It's not like I'm... suicidal, because I'm not. I love life.  I love it more than anything.  I don't want to give it up--I'll live forever or die trying, as Yossarian says.  I was... I opened Reaper Man.  Found the comment about the Morris dance, went looking for the one about the other Morris dance.  And... I think that's why.  Life and Death. The Ankh.  The Morris dance is danced on the first day of spring--a celebration of life.  And in the Ramtops, Pratchett says, they understand you need to dance the other Morris dance.  And it's why I'm thinking about it so much.  Because... you can't really love life and understand it if you don't love and understand death.  For the balance of things.

You've got to dance both, they say. Otherwise you can't dance either.

 *Sighs* So.

Waiting on news from District choir auditions, even though I won't hear until Monday, probably... *Whimper*

But also gotta write up a sample for my PPCing, and I even found a fic. Fairly mild, Discworld.  Possessed!Susan, depressed-wanting-to-die!Susan... already two minis I've found (I think they're... mini-Luggages?), Lobsang acting all out of character, Sam Jr. romance, Death randomly vanishing for twenty years... Susan!baby... etc.

*Sighs* So that'll happen.

In the mean time, I think I want to announce this: Joss Whedon needs to sue the Moonlighting people. Vampire who is a private investigator and falls in love with a human named Beth. Come on. I think she's even blonde. *Facepalm* Honestly...

*Sigh* And I think I'll start writing tonight.

It is impossible to get the picture I want.

Someone please give me the name of an episode of Buffy in which Giles is smiling very very nicely.  Please.

I need a picture.

Preferably let it be one without his HORRIBLE season one hair and if manageable without glasses.

Home from school today. I love some of my teachers. The rest I hate.

I love my choir director.

Also, wtf, fanmix? For Spike/Xander?

I won't go into the retching and protesting noises from this corner. Suffice to say they're loud.

I'm gonna go feel nauseous now.

song: Me singing "Help Me Make It"

Iiiiiiii havea Giles!  Who is loved! And popular! And who wants Luna to be a Watcher now!

Yes, he's an insane lunatic. In a cute, bookish way.

Also, I think I'm confusing him with Chris, 'cause I almost typed something that Chris would do, namely, be over protective. But... whatever.  Eeeeeeh, Giles.

Also, I can't wait until Angel's around.  ....And he'll be trying to hide the vampire-ness for a while.

Yo, anyone got a Cordy hangin' 'round? Aubrey, put out a call for Cordelia, please. We need her around. If only to dump on. Oh the Cordy.

...Anyway. I'm tired and stuff.  Mrrh.  And I have A) a shrink appointment and B) a performance thing involving playing piano, which I suck at.

...Also, I just realized Chris is a Ph.D. Whoa. ....Which means technically both of Tyrone's parents are technically referred to as Dr. Astin. Why does this weird me out? Even if it proves the best English teachers are the doctor-people.

crappy

song: H.M.S Pinafore medley. Don't even ask.

...I am going to put the most random note up. Well, not entirely random.

So, I was thinking about Prejazdverse, for various complicated reasons mostly involving the last mentality Tyroshaun was in.  Last two, in fact.  But anyway, the point is that I realized I would want icons of Prejazd!Cinaed, dammit.  Meaning... all fancy and pretty and nobilityish.  So I went hunting for pictures from the version of Persuasion which is in post-production stages right now.

The results of this search: I am reminded that ASH is playing in a version of Macbeth.  Sadly, it's not old Scottish, or I would squee on the likelihood of ASH in a kilt.  (I want that, dammit.)  But... he's playing Sir Walter Elliot in Persuasion. The stuck up idiot.  Which is A) weird with writing Giles and Chris/Cinaed, who are anything but, and B) useful in that I will get pictures of him in fancy clothes.  Yey.

The other result is that I'm reminded that he plays Duncan.  Duncan.  Who gets murdered.

Dammit, Macbeth has earned my eternal hatred for touching my Giles/Chris/ASH-thing!

........er........

i'mgoingawaynow

...On another note, I'm going to fail my math test tomorrow, will likely be up all night, and can't focus and am contemplating the convenient fact that my bed is right under a large twelfth story window.  Hmm.

EDIT: OMAFC, ASH has a daughter my age. Do you know how effing happy that makes me?
AlsoTyrone'sagedammitstopscrewingwiththeworld

...Holy shite. And his younger girl is called Daisy May.  A) Cathy line.  B) May/Mae. My world is fucked with.  This time in a mildly good way. If a "stop blowing my mind" way.

...Shiiiit. He's six foot one.  He's not a small guy.  This explains why Angel doesn't tower over him.  How does Buffy manage to appear even remotely not-tiny around him? ....Oh, wait.  The tweed.  And her five inch heels. NVM.

Also, dearest Tony... stop being Chris.  Even though it makes my life.

...Okay.  This is me trying to pretend I'm happy. Can you tell I fail miserably?

Edit: ....Oooooh boy. A quote from a thing he did a voice to? "Silhoutte was the only woman I'll ever love! Ah, well at least I've still got the men."
Also: "You think this is all about you? Oh the irony."

song: Something to Sing About -- in head

Today should not be as fucking good as it is.

Seriously.

First of all, on time to school, up and awake and stuff in time... good way to start.

Then, in physics, most useless day and I sat and reread stuff I'd written the whole time.  And then slept through most of the second half.

History, I played a game the whole time.

English, I played a game the whole time.

Beginning of lunch, I rambled for fifteen minutes at my English teacher (the one from last year, my idol) about building fantasy worlds, the problem of having likable nobility and how to use them to undermine the feudal system.  More importantly? I told her the Kearon-Vearin plot, and just from what I told her she thought it was an excellent story.

Seriously.

Do you understand now why I love this woman with my life?

Also! THERE IS A ONCE MORE WITH FEELING SCRIPT BOOK! AND THE CD CALLED MUSIC FOR ELEVATORS IS PUT OUT BY HE WHO IS THE JOINT WINNER OF SEXIEST VOICE EVER. (The other being, of course, Tim.)

*BEAMS* Today is far too good.

EDIT: Well...  *Shrug* math class and the propect of having to be in Drama and Jazz has made the day take a downturn.  But... when I get home I'm going on iTunes and seeing about finding Dog Eared by Michael Cerveris and Music for Elevators, and maybe some King's Singers stuff. Cheaper than buying the CDs, and faster, after all...

Oh, and Gaelic music. Gaelic music is a requirement.

...Oh, also? I love how my iPod somehow like... minorly recharges itself and has unending battery.  Seriously.  iRiver, nothing can stop you. ...Except being dropped on your head.
